Final Class Portfolio

Tonight was my last night of class. I learn a lot about digital photography, from class and of course my own research. It has been a fun journey transitioning from film photography to digital photography. I am so excited to really get my business going now. We shared a bit of our portfolio in class tonight, and these are a few of my favorites that I shared. Thanks for stopping by.

Study of Light

This week's assignment was to study light during different times of the day. Of course using natural light, auto mode and the same subject. The composition is not my favorite, but I had to find something that was nearby, considering I would need to take a picture every half hour, three different times of the day. It was very interesting to learn that the best times to shoot are early morning and early evening. I really enjoyed the early morning light. This may not be the best representation of the study, the day I shot was a cloudy day (perfect day for shooting, all day).

Photo Op Wednesday...part one

Sadly my photography instructor was in a car accident this past weekend, so class is cancelled for this week. She will be fine, but needs some rest and recovery. Next week's post will have to take some creativity, I may just break this week's assignment into two posts.
I must admit, this assignment wasn't as fun as others, but I did get some great shots. We were to use our camera's preset settings, see what the camera does in preset "auto" modes.
"Sport" (moving swing caught in action)
"Natural" (using the natural light of day)
"Landscape"
"Beach" (since we don't really have a beach here, this will do) "Portrait"
"Party " (quick shot in the house, low light)

Photo Op Wednesday

I decided to take a photography class. I can always improve, right? Well, my first class was last week and each week we will get an assignment. So, for Photo Op Wednesday I will post my assignment. This week we focused on composition. Here are a few samples. The top two pictures are "Proximity vs. Distance". I got a shot of Kya, and then zoomed in close to her face. I wish I could get her to look up at me, she just didn't want to. I am sure there are many other options for subjects in photography. But since my business focuses on people, I figure I will practice with people. My easiest model...Kya. She is really too cute not to photograph.
"Framing"
"Layering"
"Visual or Actual Pathway"
This pictures was just because we had a great sunset the other night over Pikes Peak. This one was fun to take. Now I just wish I had some sillouette in the foreground.
As any photographer, especially and "up and coming", I would love to hear some feedback, corrective critisism and any comments that can only help me become the photographer I've always wanted to be, and know someday will be. Thank you for your looks and comments.

Photo Op Wednesday

So, photo op wednesday is actually a continuation story from my family blog. Last week we bought Kya dress (see previous post) with her earned points. Every week we go to Pottery Barn Kids for storytime. Each week we got, Kya gets a stamp. After five stamps...we get $10.00 off our next purchase. Last week she got five stamps and so we bought her a dress.
Photo Op Wednesday this week is pictures of Kya at storytime. She loves to read...
...but this time she was more interested in playing with the horse than listening to storytime.
